Guar ( Guar Gum ) Cultivation area is expected to increase

The major growing season of Guar cultivation is coming near.  The farmers of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat are planning to go for guar cultivation as much as possible.  It was a time when the farmers of irrigates area used to discuss about the farm input of cash crop like cotton, paddy, groundnut. Now the scenario has completely changed. the Farm input stores are full with Guar seeds and Insecticide and pesticide of Guar Crop.

Earlier the cost of cultivation for guar crop was very low because farmer used to do farming with local seeds without any chemical pest control.  The good stable rate of gaur seeds has changed the whole scenario. Farmers are planning to take guar as first crop. After looking the complete picture it is expected that the area under guar cultivation will increase 15-20 % in irrigated Guar growing belt of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat. In the rainfed area Guar will also replace the other legume and cereal crops.

Guar ( Guar Gum ) Cultivation area is expected to increase

There is also some mixed news from the other states like Maharashtra, M.P. Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu and Karnatka. It is expected that area under Guar cultivation will also increase in these states. Overall the total area under Guar cultivation will increase from 20-30 percent.

The meteorological predication of good monsoon will help farmer to take decision about the Guar Crop. The good Monsoon will lead to timely sowing of Gaur crop and good return to the farmers.

Even there was high rate of Guar seed during the last year but there was no any major impact on the export demand of Guar Gum powder from India. The Export of guar gum is almost same as  export in quantity.

There was complete control of the stocking activity due to high rate as it was more risky to stock guar seeds at high rate.

This year there is stock of guar seed but not with the stockist, it is with the farmers. Farmers are sowing the tight supply of Guar seeds. That is leading to stable rate of Guar seed.

The Guar has changed the principle and law of Economics.  At the higher rate there must be loos supply and flood of commodity in market but it is sowing tight supply. The same thing was happened  in Ireland during world war, the consumption of Potato was increased at the increasing rate of Potato.

But it is big question that will the scenario of Guar will be stable in coming Year. The farmers are expecting the same and sowing the guar in this expectation  but the study is showing the different picture.

The farmers were stoking the guar seed and expecting the hike in Guar seed rate after re-launching of the forward trading of guar seed and guar gum, but there is no any good news from forward market for increase of rate. It is clear that there is existing good stock of Guar seed with farmers

The area under guar cultivation will increase and that will lead to the increase in production. This produce will also flood in the market.

The good arrival of monsoon will also increase the production in the existing guar growing belts.

Whatever the price will be in the next year, it will be actual demand supply - ratio price without any artificial infecting factor and the rate will stable. The stable rate t will lead to the positive environment for the Guar business in world.

Guar Seed ( Gaur Gum ) arrival increased in the market.

After the re listing of Gaur seed and Guar Gum in the forward market, there is regular downfall in the rate of both commodities.  Farmer and traders are not looking the rise in the price. The farmer were holding and arrival was  very poor in the market on the exception of rise in the price after re listing of guar seed and guar gum in the forward market.

Now the arrival of Guar seed is increasing slowly and slowly in the market from farmers. Due to this arrival the rate is sharply going down. There is 16 % down fall in the price of guar seed and guar gum after re listing of guar seed and gum in forward market.   On May 14 the rate of Guar seed was around INR 9,700/-/ 100 Kg  It has come down up to INR 8000/- / 100 Kg up to yesterday.

Is this loos for industry or it is good for industry.  The rate are moving toward the stabilization. This is very good for teh whole industry. A stable market will attract more investment. In long term the industry will get benefit form the stable rates of   guar seeds.

Guar Seed ( Gaur Gum ) arrival increased in the market.

The farmers and growers need nto worry about this downfall in the rate. The activity was suppose to be happen  from October to January. But due to tight supply of guar seed from the farmer to market did not let it happen.

This is a regular circle activity of the guar business, after the production rates comes down for 3-4 months. Because farmers are having the stock now they require the money and they are converting commodity into cash, hop that this will continue up to 5-6 months.

Now the farmers need money for sowing of the Kharif Crop.

This is also the marriage season North India which will continue up to July -August. In the next month, the school and college will start from farmers will need money for the admission of the young generation. There will be more pressure of arrival  of commodity in the market. After 4-5 month the New crop of Guar will come and that will saturate the market. Side by side some production will arrive from the  summer crop and some new area of Guar cultivation like Guajarat, Andhrapradesh, Tamilnadu and Maharashtra.

Right now the arrival of Guar ( Guar Gum) Seed  has increased up to 60,000- 65,000 bags / day in last 2-3 weeks. in the physical Mandi ( Grain Market ). It is expected that this year the area of Guar cultivation will increase 20-25 % than the last year and there will be 6-7 million bags more production than last year.

Now the Importers are ignoring the long term contract they are preferring the short term contract as per their demand.  Due to this activity there is no sudden increase in the demand but in the volumatric terms the demand in stable and regular. In financial term this year ( 12-13) India has earned more foreign currency from Guar Gum export in-comparison to last year ( 11-12). It is expected that this year demand will increase in comparison to last year. This demand is very less in comparison to the arrival of commodity into the market.

This activity of arrival of commodity to the market will continue for next 7-8 Month. The normal and good monsoon will continue to pressurize the rate of guar rate toward downside. This is process of adjustment of equation between supply and demand. The rate of Guar will stabilize in this process. This is good for Industry.

Guar ( Guar Gum ) Cultivation: A crop with huge potential

We are leading knowledge and technology provider for the guar or guar seed or guar gum in the world. The demand of the guar , guar seed and guar gum is increasing day by day.

The major consumption is from Oil and natural gass industry. The industry consume huge amount of the guar gum as a carrier for sending the sand and other material to the shale rock after the hydraulic fracturing.

Hydraulic Fracturing is a process of drill the oil well horizontally. The shale rocks are fractured by the hydraulic pressure. To make the rock at the fractured position it needs sand. So that the hydrocarbon can move freely and can be easily come out.

USA is using this technology and today USA is self sufficient in the natural gas. Now USA is not importing the Natural gas from other countries.

Now the same technology is being followed by China, Australia and other countries so that they can use this huge stock of the natural gas. After the drilling, one natural gas well can work for more the 50-60 years.

People are thinking to opt the alternate of guar but the guar is natural polymer so it doesn’t not create any problem for the environment. So the gaur is the first preference of this
industry.

Guar gum is also used in the industry like food processing. Guar gum is used as natural food additive for thickening the food item. The guar gum doesn’t change the taste and color of the food items. It is also mixed in the ice-cream to prevent it crystallization at deep temperature.

It is also used in other industries like , printing, paper industry, cattle feed industry, paint industry, and textile industries due to its unique properties.

The crop can be grown easily in the low water availability, it require long day hour and bit humid climate. The crop is grown successfully in India since centuries.

If you have any question or query related to gaur gum please ask at this platform. We will happy to answer these queries.

Guar ( Guar Gum) and its products

GUAR GUM SEED

Guar seeds are harvested from the guar crop. The guar crop is 90-120 days. The mature plant turn yellow and it is segregated by the threshing  machine. The seed can be stored on teh natural condition. Normally no insect pest are reported on the natural storage condition.. It can be easily stored up to 2 years with  out any chemical control measure.

The Current Dead Lock of Farmer and Buyer of Guar ( Guar Gum) crop

This rate Rs 35,000 was in April in last year. Any price you are getting above 5000/ qt is good enough. The current level of Rs 13000 is best one in comparison to the other commodities.

There is no any positive sign of deadlock from farmers. Under the influence the farmers are not selling the commodity. The price was expected to grow in natural way. But the deadlock condition can harm the farmers in the long term.

The deadlock of farmer is moving toward the political movement. The politics and economics are two different things. In this condition the no investor would like to pure the fund in the industry. If the gold is being sold slowly at gold price that is OK, but if the Iron is not being sold at gold price that is questionable.

The Current Dead Lock of Farmer and Buyer of Guar ( Guar Gum) crop

I always put the guar crop profitable for farmers still it is profitable for farmers, But the situation which is has been created on this point that is point to worry.

Farmer has right to sell its commodity at a particular price. But if the farmers are not selling the commodity at a particular price that is not good sign and point of investigation.

Business doesn't mean the cutting the supply line. It is all about to balance the demand and supply. What ever height is there to balance the demand and supply, that is understandable.

Buyer is not a foolish, he is studying each and every activity of supplier.

Ethics always matter in any type of venture for a sustainable long term growth. Playing good is justified but holding the ball is not going to make champion to the farmers.

Anyway still Guar is the profitable crop in context to cost of cultivation, time of maturity, low disease and insect attack, good for storage , land improvement, fertility increase, low water requirement.

Guar Guar Gum) Crop ; Crop of Poor

I am not promoting Guar only for Oil drilling. I promoting it for poor farmer and low investment for multipurpose. Low investment. Low investment means low risk, Means there is nothing to loose and many thing to earn. The fundamental of crop are solid more than stone.

Who ask these oil company to feed their profit to Guar Purchase, If there was a ready alternate then why these company went for stocking at higher price. Might be we don't know, but these companies are having some demand that's why they stocked it and now they want it to come down, so that they can purchase it further.

With in 12 month at any time there can be peak demand of Guar Seed, that can also lead to sudden rise of rate of Guar seed.
Guar Guar Gum) Crop ; Crop of Poor

There are other uses of Guar except Oil extraction.

As per the fodder is concern that is your production. You can feed you animal. If i talk about poor farmer he must have some cattle for their Milk requirement. They don't need to sell it , they can consume it for their cattle.

Ask the people who run the brick Kline. They will purchase the crop residual.

In North India in the month of march and April you can go for Guar crop just after harvesting the Rabi Crop. That is best time for cultivation. IF you have good amount of water, please see the result under the sun heat.

It is also expected that future trading will also open through commodities exchange that will also lead to high price.

The crop was suppose to come in Market in mid October. There is not the arrival of single bag of in the market of new crop. It is expected to come in Mid November. That is not a good sign and time for Bumper crop.

I am again saying ..................... It is crop of Poor................for cash, for fodder, for vegetable, for fertilizers .............. with low investment.... I can challenge any one if there is any other crop, which is profitable more than Guar on equal cost of cultivation of Guar or less than this.

Insect - Pest of Guar Crop and their Control

As Guar is a rainy season crop, that's why, a number of insect pests feed and grow on its leaves and pods. Some important ones are described here.

Hairy caterpillars

Ascotis imparata and Spilosoma obliqua, Amsacta lactinae and Euproctis scintilans are the insects that cause heavy damage. The adult lays eggs in clusters over the surface of the leaves. The larvae cause characteristic skeletonisation of leaves during the early gregarious stage and later they completely defoliate the plant. The pest can easily be controlled by systematic collection of larvae during the early gregarious stage or spraying with Endosulfan @ 0.07 percent.

Insect - Pest of Guar Crop and their Control

Jassid
Empoasca fabae, Empoasca Kraemeri and Amrascakerri are serious pest of the crop. The nymph are wingless and found in abundance on the lower surface of the leaves. The nymph and adult pierce the plant tissues and suck the cell sap. Leaves become yellow at the margin. They can be controlled by: (i) soil application of systemic granular insecticides such as Aldicarb 10 G at the rate of 10 -15 kg per hectare. (ii) spray of Endosulphan 35 EC at the rate of 2litres in 1000 litres of water, or (iii) dusting of BHC 10% dust at the rate of 20 -25 kg per hectare.

Disease Management in Guar Crop

Antharacnose

This disease is caused by Colletotncum capsici. The disease is more severe in high rainfall subtropical to temperate areas than in tropical areas. The fungus is seed -borne and symptoms may start as early as in seedling stage. The most characteristic symptoms of the disease are black, sunken, crater like cankers on the pods, stem or cotyledons. The lesions remain isolated by yellow -orange margins. They give out a dull salmon conloured ooze from the centre when humidity is very high.

Control

1. Use healthy seed
2. Avoid excess watering
3. Give wider spacing
4. Use hot water treated seed
5.Spray fungicides like Dithane M -45 or Dithane Z- 78 at the rate of 2 kg in l000 litres of water per hectare.

Disease Management in Guar seed ( guar gum ) Crop

Powdery mildew

This disease is caused by Oidium ~pp. White powdery growth occurs on leaves, spreading to cover the stem and other plant parts. In severe cases, the entire plant dries up.

Control

1. Dusting with sulphur powder
2. Spraing with systemic fungicides Benlate or Bavistin and Calixin gives effective control of powdery mildew.
3. Sowing healthy seed after treating with Thiram.
4. Follow a crop rotation to reduce the soil- borne innoculum of the fungus.

Bacterial blight

This disease is caused by Xanthomonas cyamophagus. The disease is characterized by irregular, sunken, red to brown leaf spots surrounded by a narrow yellowish halo. Several spots coalesce to from irregular patches. The spots may also develop on pods.

Control

1. Grow resistant varieties .
2. Treat the seed with thiram at the rate of 3 gm/kg seed. Also adopt hot water treatment at 560 C for 10 minutes.
3. Eradicate affected plants and burn them.

Leaf spot

This disease is caused by Myrothecium roridum. Dark brown round spots appear on leaf. In case of severe infection. Several spots merge together and leaflets become chlorotic [/B]and usually drop off. If plants are infected in the early stages of growth, there may not be any flowering.

Control

Spray with Dithane Z- 78,0.2% at the interval of 15 days, twice or thrice.

Disease Management in Guar seed ( guar gum ) Crop

Guar is tolerant to many disease and pests. The common diseases of guar are wilt, bacterial blight, powdery mildew, and anthracnose.

Wilt

This disease is caused by Fusarium monolifonne. The pathogen is soil- borne and, therefore, its damage is of localized nature. It causes infection to the base of plants including roots and seedlings. The roots show dis-colouration and plant wilts. Poor emergence of seedlings is the first symptom of the disease. The seedlings rot before or soon after emergence.

Disease Management in Guar seed ( guar gum ) Crop

Control

1. Mixed croping of guar with sorghum reduces the damage up to 55 per cent.
2. Addition of organic manures also reduces the disease incidence.
3. Seed treatment with Agrosan GN or Thiram or Capta

Weed Management in Guar Crop

Guar field in kharif season is always full with a number of weed plants, Hoeing and weeding in the initial stages of plant growth with the help of khurpi, tined harrow reduces the weed-crop competition and increases soil aeration for bacterial growth. The application of Basalin at the rate of 1.0 kg a.i. per hectare as pre- planting dose suppresses the growth of grasses and other weeds. The manual practices must be preferred over the chemical practices.

Weed Management in Guar Crop

Method of sowing of Guar ( Guar Gum ) Crop

Traditionally guar crop is sown by the broadcast method. Normally it is called "CHHIDAKA". If you want to go for broadcast method, then there must be sufficient soil moisture during the beginning of the rainy season. The field is roughly divided into long stripes of convenient size. The seed is evenly spread by hands over the surface of the field, while walking through the long stripes of the field. The field is ploughed after spreading the seed.

This method does not ensure proper spacing and creates problems while hoeing, weeding and removing excessive rain water.

The grower will also face problems in the intercultural operations.

Method of sowing of Guar ( Guar Gum ) Crop

Line sowing with the help of tractors by seed-drill is useful in sowing. We can maintain the proper spacing and depth. This results in better seed germination. Line sowing is also useful for carrying out hoeing-weeding and removing excessive rain water.

In some area Guar is taken as mixed cropping the seeds are mixed with other crop. Normally in the Western Rajasthan it is taken with Bajara and Jwaar. The seed of pulses like Mung( green gram), chickpea is also mixed.

It can be also used as inter-cropping with clear separate row between other crop rows.

Guar ( Guar Gum) Cultivation and Its scope

Guar is emerging as newly industrial crop in India. The demand of the crop is increasing day bay day. The Guar seed contain the guar gum, the Gum content. The Gum is easily soluble in cold water and there will be no change in the viscosity at high temperature. It is widely used in different industries like pharma, Natural gas industry, food processing, food industry, food additive, gelling agent , cattle feed, printing, textile, paper industry and other industries.

SCOP OF GUAR CULTIVATION IN WORLD

In the world major production comes from India only, Pakistan also produces good quantity guar seed. In India Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat are the major producing stage. Where Rajasthan contributes more than 70 % of total Indian Production, other major quantity comes from Gujarat and Haryana. Punjab also contributes good production.

Guar ( Guar Gum) Cultivation and Its scope, guar , guar gum, guar gum splits, guar gum powder

Traditionally the farmers use guar as the fodder crop where they grow guar as a last option. Crop is very important for the farmers as first of all it is used as fodder crop; the fodder of guar is highly nutritive in nature, it is easy to digest, the cattle eat it easily.

Most of the cultivation comes from the rainfed area of the State, where Guar is grown on the basis of natural rainfall. The crop sustain in the adverse conditions. It gives very god production in the rain fed area. In some area of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana comes under the irrigated Guar. In irrigated area Guar gives around 20-25 Qt/ Hectare.

RECENT SCENARIO OF GUAR CULTIVATION IN WORLD

A new are are coming under the cultivation on Guar crop in world, many countries are introducing guar as crop, it is already cultivated in USA, Spain, Austarlia and Many African Countries. May other countries are trying Guar as new crop. I regularly receive query from a lot of Growers.

FUTURE OF GUAR CROP

Guar crop is emerging as Industrial crop. A lot of new application of Guar will be introduced. The demand of Guar gum powder will increase in the coming time. The current demand is related to the Hydraulic fracturing. The Guay gum is used a Gelling agent in the well drilling by the hydraulic fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing is the process of the drill in well horizontally, where Guar gel is used to send the Sand and silica particle in the cracks of shale formation rocks so that the hydrocarbon can move out easily from the well

The other used of guar gum like food additive in food items, in food preservation, in the meat production, in pharmaceutical industry, in the printing industry, in the textile industry.
