Important improved Varieties of Guar / Guar gum ( Cyamopsis tetragonoloba )

Most of guar guar varieties are selection verities. There is no hybrid verity of guar.  All the verities are improved as per the yield, color of seed, size of plants. These all verities are developed by the Government research Institutes

HG 2-20: 

Developed by Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, this variety was released in 2010 for the Northern Western Plains of India, including Zone 1-B of Rajasthan. This variety has a medium plant height (95-105 cm), high tillering ability, and flowers in 40-50 days. It matures in 110-120 days with an average yield of 12-16 quintals per hectare. With better agriculture practices yield can be taken up to 20 quintals per hectare. It shows moderate resistance to diseases and is suitable for rainfed conditions. This guar variety can be harvested after good rainfall.


RGC-936: 

This guar variety matures in 80-90 days and is suitable for light sandy soils. It has high tillering ability with a plant height of 60-90 cm. It flowers in 33-36 days, and the seeds are clearly visible. The seeds are large and shiny, and 100 seeds weigh 3.1 to 3.57 grams. The average guar seed yield is 10-13 quintals guar seed per hectare. With better agriculture practices yield can be taken up to 16 quintals per hectare.


RGC-1066 (White Guar):

 Approved in 2007, this variety matures in 100-105 days and has a plant height of 100-115 cm with no branches. The seeds are clean and shiny, and 100 seeds weigh about 3.5 grams. The average yield of guar seed is 12-14 quintals per hectare. This guar seed variety is suitable for mechanical harvesting. With better agriculture practices yield can be taken up to 18 quintals per hectare.

HG 365: 

This guar seed variety has a shorter plant height and matures in 85-100 days. The seeds are small and golden yellow in color. The average yield is 12-14 quintals per hectare, with grain protein content around 30%. Due to early maturity, this guar seed variety can be harvested before any adverse weather conditions. With better agriculture practices yield can be taken up to 20 quintals per hectare.


RGC-1002: 

This guar seed variety matures in 100-110 days and flowers early with red-colored flowers. The seeds are small and shiny, and the average yield  of guar seed is 12-14 quintals per hectare. This guar seed variety shows good resistance to various diseases. With better agriculture practices yield can be taken up to 18 quintals per hectare.


RGC-197: 

This guar seed variety has a medium plant height (80-120 cm) with high tillering ability. It flowers in 40-50 days and matures in 115-125 days. The seeds are large and shiny, and 100 seeds weigh about 3.5 grams. The average guar seed yield is 10-13 quintals per hectare. This variety is suitable for areas with good rainfall and good drainage. With better agriculture practices yield can be taken up to 16 quintals per hectare.
